Glenorchy City Council is committed to improving the wellbeing of everyone in our community.

Community is at the heart of everything we do, so it is important that Council has a clear strategy for the future so that Glenorchy is a welcoming, healthy, safe and learning community.

We have developed a draft Community Strategy 2021-2030 to guide us over the next ten years. View the summary document for a quick overview of the draft strategy. Thank you to everyone who provided input in the first stage of consultation. View the engagement summary.

Research and consultation with our community has resulted in four priority areas that will inform all areas of Council activity:

  • Accessible, inclusive and diverse – we are a welcoming, accessible and inclusive community, caring for all.
  • Safe – we are a safe community with a strong sense of belonging, ownership, and pride.
  • Healthy – we are a healthy, thriving, vibrant and strongly-connected community.
  • Education and learning for life – we are a community that is engaged in diverse learning opportunities to achieve our aspirations.

We would like you to have a look at the draft Strategy and let us know what you think! There are a number of ways you can have your say:

  • Take our survey
  • Make a comment
  • Take the quick poll (you don't need to register to do this)
  • Talk to us at the Glenorchy Library on Tuesday 20 July, Wednesday 21 July or Thursday 22 July between 10am-12:30pm
  • Pick up a copy of the Draft Community Strategy at Glenorchy City Council and fill out the survey there

This consultation closed 9 am Tuesday 10 August. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback. Your feedback helped us finalise the strategy.

UPDATE: At the Local Government Meeting on the 30th August 2021 Council endorsed the Community Strategy 2021 - 2030.

I can see that a lot of work has gone into this document and it's great that the council is trying to streamline their strategies however the document itself is not tangible.
Rather than have the broad objectives, it may be a more worthwhile document if it linked to all the relevant strategies that different parts intersected with.
Furthermore, I think it lacks examples of where the community have involved in the process , some evidence/ demonstration of this would be good if it is meant to be a forward facing document for the community.
It may also be worth combining the "our community" and " who we are" . They are talking about the same thing (the community) but the way it reads, you wonder if it's talking about who the council is and who the community is .
Thanks
