Investigation into the Long Term Lease of Mitchell Range
Consultation has concluded
Glenorchy City Council is seeking feedback from the community into the potential disposal (Long Term Lease) of Council owned land at “The Mitchell Range” which is part of Council land at 210 Tolosa Street, Glenorchy (as shown in the image below).
Currently part of this area is used as a shooting range and, along with the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) shooting range, is leased by The Sporting Shooters of Australia Association (SSAA).
In 2020, Council endorsed the Glenorchy Mountain Bike Masterplan. This recommended the decommissioning of the existing AIF range located near the main Tolosa Park entry to the mountain bike park. The plan also proposed extending and upgrading the Mitchell Range to accommodate all shooting disciplines currently undertaken by the SSAA at both ranges, and allow for projected future uses.
As part of the extension and redevelopment of the Mitchell Range site, Council is looking at entering into a long term lease with the SSAA.
