Wellington Park Management Plan Review

Consultation has concluded

Have your say on the values of Wellington Park

Wellington Park Management Plan Review

The first stage of public consultation is now open.

Wellington Park, including kunanyi / Mount Wellington, is an 18,011ha reserve that includes part of the Hobart, Glenorchy, Derwent Valley, Kingborough and Huon Valley local government areas.

The Management Plan functions as the planning scheme for Wellington Park.

The Trust is also working through a cultural consultancy to gather critical feedback from both Senior Knowledge Keepers and young people in the Palawa community. The Trust has resolved to recognise a new category, Aboriginal Values, to ensure proper consideration is given to the ongoing relationship between Palawa and their country. Aboriginal Values will be determined by Palawa.

The City of Hobart, Glenorchy City Council, Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service, TasWater, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and Tourism Tasmania as Trust member agencies are involved in the review of the Wellington Park Management Plan.

Stage 1 of the consultation involves Articulating Park Values. To do this there are 7 surveys:

The draft Values Statements are provided as a starting point for consultation, with the aim to build consensus within the Wellington Park community of users, visitors and land managers.

The draft Park Values Statements are open for public consultation until 15 September. Important background information and feedback surveys are available from the Wellington Park Management Trust website at www.wellingtonpark.org.au.
