What urban areas will the strategy cover?
The strategy will cover urban areas from the foreshore of the Derwent River to the edge of the foothills of kunanyi/Mt Wellington. It will consider trees on Council land in these areas.
Why is council developing an urban tree strategy?
An urban tree strategy will provide direction for the management of trees on Council land in the urban area of the municipality. This includes trees on streets and Council parks and reserves. The strategy aims to maximise the benefits that trees provide on Council land and help us incorporate trees around the city where we most want and need them.
