The Tasmanian Government is reviewing the public bus network that serves Greater Hobart and surrounding areas — and we want to hear from you.
This review includes services currently operated by Metro, Tassielink and Kinetic, as well as the Metro school bus network.
The Tasmanian Government wants your feedback on the current public bus network in Greater Hobart and nearby areas like New Norfolk, Sorell and the Southern Beaches, Richmond, Campania, and the Huon Valley.
Tell us what works, what doesn’t, and what would make you use buses more often (or at all).
Why We’re Reviewing the Network
Public transport plays a vital role in connecting people to work, education, shops, services and social activities. This review aims to deliver updated routes and timetables that are:
Reliable, easy to use and convenient
Better connected to key destinations and services
A more efficient use of available resources
We’re using transport data, planning principles and — most importantly — your feedback to shape the future of our network.
How You Can Get Involved
The first round of consultation is open until 20 June 2025. Right now, we want to understand what is and isn’t working with the existing network.
Whether you’re a regular bus user, only take it occasionally, or never use it at all — your input matters.
Further consultation will occur after proposed changes are drafted based on the feedback we receive during this phase.
