Renfrew Circle Traffic Calming

Consultation has concluded

Renfrew Circle - Raised Platforms at Intersections and Road Reconstruction

Glenorchy City Council is planning to reconstruct Renfrew Circle over the coming years and as part of the reconstruction, install raised platforms at the intersections.

The raised platforms are elevated sections of road that aim to reduce vehicle speeds and may assist in reducing traffic diverting from the Highways onto the local street. The raised platforms are proposed at the intersections along Renfrew Circle, to be installed as the road is reconstructed.

Will this reduce vehicles speeds in the area?

Council has received feedback from Goodwood residents regarding vehicles speeds and rat running in the area, it is hoped these raised platforms will mitigate this and improve safety conditions in your community.

A plan indicating the raised pavements and extent of works over the coming years, is available for download from the Documents section.

We heard you don't like speed humps...

Council previously undertook some consultation in Renfrew Circle about the installation of speed humps in the street, we understand that some residents didn't support the idea due to the noise associated with vehicles travelling over speed humps. The use of raised platforms at intersections should help remove this issue for residents while still providing traffic calming.

When will the works start?

Stage 1 of the road reconstruction is to commence in April 2024. It will include upgrade works to footpath, kerb and gutter renewal, associated stormwater works and road reconstruction between Acton Crescent to Allardyce Avenue.

During construction there will be some restrictions to through traffic and property access. Council is aware of the inconvenience that can occur when works are carried out in the road reserve and will endeavour to minimise the effects during construction.

This consultation has now closed.

Council will now review the feedback received and incorporate into the final design where appropriate.
