The City of Hobart and Glenorchy City Council have sought feedback on plans to return the heavily concreted New Town Rivulet Outlet to a more natural, estuarine environment.
The proposed designs aim to return the area to a more natural, estuarine landscape, benefiting local birdlife, improving the health of the River Derwent, and creating a far more beautiful area for residents; while also addressing the increasing risk of erosion from deteriorating concrete embankments.
It will also address the increased risk of bank erosion caused by the deteriorating concrete embankments, which are up to 60 years old.
Feedback on this project closed midnight 26 May 2023.
