Nature Strip Policy

Have you ever thought about planting some bushes or flowers on your nature strip? Glenorchy City Council has now made it easier for residents to do just this! During May and June 2022 Council sought your feedback on the Draft Nature Strip Policy and Guidelines.

The policy sets out the responsibilities and expectations of Council and the community regarding maintaining nature strips in Glenorchy City.

The policy has now been adopted by Council. You can view the updated policy and guidelines in the Documents tab on the right.

Following the consultation period, the following changes were made to the policy:

  • The growing of fruit and vegetables is now allowed under a permit
  • The growing of taller plants is now allowed under a permit
  • The list of preferred and banned species has been updated
